Website + Substack Revamp
Marking the start of job market/dissertation bootcamp season with a professional website and SpacEd Out makeover, courtesy of Casey Reinknecht
If you’re reading this, you should recognize that things look a bit different around here. Gone are the logos with Wally or algae-green buttons — we’re welcoming in a glow-up that matches the aesthetic of my new professional website, designed with expertise and love by Casey Reinknecht!
Many reading this will know Casey as my youngest brother’s girlfriend and co-caretaker of the Susquehanna house, the baker of incredibly beautiful and equally delicious baby shower cookies, and/or the infamous bat-thrower at the now annual Father’s Day/Scott’s Birthday Softball Game. But she is *also* a talented artist and graphic designer who takes on freelance work occasionally. Lucky for me, she made time to help set up a website that gets across all the important professional things but still showcases a bit of my personality. Check it out at lilidodderidge.com, and check out Casey’s instagram for more examples of her gorgeous work.
I figured I should also update this Substack to feel a bit less slapdash and a bit more intentional, so I borrowed some of Casey’s color palette for the website and used her SpacEd Out logo design to improve things on this end.
A couple things of note:
The homepage now has links at the top to get you directly to some particular groupings of posts that might be of interest to you:
Dissertation Diary Entries — all posts directly related to my professional work, primarily my dissertation
Teaching Tuesdays — posts that share teaching strategies and/or reflect on teaching and learning more generally
More Fun, Less Work — the personal/random posts that readers seem to enjoy most
But all articles are available, latest to earliest, in the Archive.
Instead of Wally sitting woefully at the computer, you’ll now see me1, sitting in the window enjoying a cup of coffee while writing away:
If you’ve been waiting to subscribe or tell others about SpacEd Out because you were embarrassed on my behalf about the lack of design quality, the wait is over!! Please read along and tell a friend!
And a final thank you to Casey: I love your work, but I love you even more (so that’s really saying something!!)
I only call this out because I am someone who gets used to seeing certain images/colors when scrolling through sites like Substack or Instagram…so this would throw me off! But perhaps I’m projecting here.
